In its current format, the experience of "The Pilgrim" has certain limitations. Coming from a dreamlike world, a very important characteristic of this work is its twilight atmosphere; the feeling of being in an infinite desert. Thanks to current technology, the experience of "The Pilgrim" could be taken to another level of immersion:
Animations: The images from the book can be adapted into small animations to bring them to life and create a more dynamic atmosphere. The subtle movements of certain elements in the paintings, the incorporation of visual effects, and the addition of ambient music could enrich the interpretation and meaning of the images.
Interactive story or video game: There is the possibility of developing an interactive version of "The Pilgrim" in the form of a video game. Titles like "Journey" and "Dark Souls" have served as inspiration in the creation of the work. For example, "Journey" shares a similar structure to "The Pilgrim," using not only a narrative structure but also paying a symbolic and educational homage to the Campbellian monomyth. On the other hand, "Dark Souls" shares an aesthetic of a dark medieval fantasy world with an epic story full of adventures and dangers. With an interactive structure, players could customize their experience and delve deeper into the themes and symbolism present in "The Pilgrim" in an educational manner.
Virtual reality experience: Weather phenomena such as stormy clouds, enveloping twilight, and the aridity of the landscape are integral parts of the experience that make up the world of "The Pilgrim." The sensation of looking at the horizon and not seeing an end in the desert, or exploring a tower and admiring its architectural details, could be recreated through virtual reality, such as Oculus technology.
